Project Scope
- To evaluate the effect of boot weight and design on men and women firefighters’ oxygen consumption, peak flows, joint loading, dynamic balance, and gait characteristics
- To provide much needed scientific data to the NFPA 1971 standards committee (Protective Ensemble for Structural Fire Fighting) to revise and update standards

- Q1 Complete HSRB protocol amendment for FY09 testing and Complete draft manuscript of 1st phase results
- Q2 Present preliminary results of 2nd phase testing to NFPA 1971 technical committee
- Q3 Present results of 2nd phase testing at AIHCE in Toronto
- Q4 Initiate and complete 25% of human subject testing in Morgantown human factors laboratory
